What Does a Cedar Gazebo Kit Include?

When considering the cost of having a gazebo installed, it is wise to look into a cedar gazebo kit for the do-it-yourselfer . With only minimal skills, a gazebo kit will save you the cost of paying someone to build you one from scratch.

Many people do not realize that they are shipped to you in pre-built in sections when ordered as a kit.  The sections have pre-drilled holes so that all you have to do is bolt them together.  This makes it an easy assembly for someone with little to no wood-working experience.

There are two different shapes of gazebos that can be ordered in a gazebo kit.  Octagon gazebos will have eight sides, and hexagon gazebos will have six sides.  They both are installed in the same manner with the only difference being the amount of panels and sections that will be included in your kit.

The floors will come in two sections that easily bolt together when ordered in a kit.  They are normally made with a 2x6 inch frame and have 1x6 inch boards for the flooring.

The sides will come as panels that will easily bolt to the 4x4 or 6x6 posts, depending on the gazebo kit you order.  The sides will either be made from a straight lattice, cross-grid lattice, spindles, or chamfer for the more rustic look.  You can decide what kind of sides you would like to have before ordering your gazebo kit.

The roof also comes in sections that are pre-shingled.  All you have to do is bolt them together and install a roof cap over the seams.  The cupola, located on the top of the roof usually comes in one piece when ordered with a gazebo kit, and is easily attached to the roof after the sections have been assembled.

Gazebo kits may be bolted down to concrete or wood if you are worried about high winds in your area.  Many people just sit them in their yard on a level spot and never bolt them down.  The weight of the gazebo will be enough to keep it in place in most areas.

With a few hand tools and a little help, installing a cedar gazebo kit in your yard should be a weekend project.  This might be a good time to invite the guys over  for a working barbecue, and let them show off their handyman skills.
